- Pain in the kidneys
- High fever
CYSTITIS
Thousands of women, and some men, suffer from cystitis. This infection in the bladder, makes you want to pee frequently but when you try, it is painful and very little urine is passed.
Some cystitis sufferers find that black tea, coffee, fizzy drinks, chilli peppers and spices may make their symptoms worse.
WATER You need to drink plenty of fluids - at least 2-3 litres
(3.5 - 5 pints) each day - to dilute the urine. This makes it less acidic and therefore less painful.
CRANBERRY may be taken as juice or in capsules. Drinking a glass a day can be taken as a preventative measure.
BLUEBERRIES have the same effect of inhibiting bacteria. They can be eaten fresh or dried. However, some people are allergic, so try just a few to begin with.
HORSERADISH contains a very antiseptic volatile oil which is partially excreted through the urinary tract. It may help with cystitis.
BUCHU, CRATAEVA and CORNSILK are herbs that may be taken as tea, infusions or in capsule form.
CORIANDER SEEDS may help with cystitis and diarrhoea, as well as infections of the urinary tract. They can be used whole or ground and added to curries, stews and stir fry.

URETHRITIS
This may be helped by CRANBERRY JUICE or CORNSILK and PUNCTURE VINE capsules.
