HERBS AND REMEDIES FOR
VARICOSE VEINS AND HAEMORRHOIDS
(PILES)
Varicose veins can be hereditary, however a healthy diet and regular exercise may help
to prevent them. Try to avoid standing for long periods of time. Drink
plenty of water and eat plenty of fibre rich foods- wholemeal bread,
fresh fruit and vegetables. Try foods rich in vitamin E, such as seed
oils, wheat germ, avocados and nuts. Avoid being overweight.
WITCH HAZEL can be applied as a
lotion.
Appy a NETTLE infusion (tea) as a lotion to relieve inflamed and weakened skin. Use for varicose veins.

Other herbs that may help are GOTU KOLA, HORSE CHESTNUT and BUTCHER'S BROOM taken in capsule
form, for both ailments.
BILBERRY may be taken as capsules or tea.
The most likely causes of haemorrhoids, which
is the painful and swollen veins in the anal area, is prolonged
constipation or restricted blood flow. Constipation is often the result
of eating too many refined foods and not enough fibre. This can
sometimes lead to bleeding. Haemorrhoids often occur after pregnancy.
NOTE: If rectal bleeding is persistant, consult
a doctor, as there may be a more serious problem, such as cancer of the
rectum.
